Greg Kasavin, creative director of Hades 2 at Supergiant, talked about the state of early access where the game is now, also reporting as long as it remains at this stage, i.e. at least until the end of 2024.
Supergiant’s roguelite was released on May 6th in early access, therefore not in complete versionbut already in this state it was able to truly conquer everyone, with the first enthusiastic responses from the public, immediately surpassing 100,000 contemporary players at launch and momentarily placing itself in first place on Steam.
As for plans for the near future, it seems that the team intends to keep it in early access for several more months, because it seems there is still a lot of work to do.
There is still work to be done
Kasavin reported that Supergiant is currently focused primarily on the development of first major update of Hades 2, which promises to be decidedly substantial, but will be preceded by other smaller patches.
“In the short term, we plan to release at least a couple of minor patches to improve some specific parts of the game where we think some updates could have the best effect based on the feedback received,” explained Kasavin.
“Then we will focus on our Major Update, which will require several months during which the game will not be updated. This major update will include new features, environments, enemies and other content”, explained the creative director, so it will be an important step towards the version 1.0 of the game.
After this major update there will then be room for other minor patches and only after these will the team consider Hades 2 complete for version 1.0: “We expect it to remain in early access at least until the end of this year”.
In short, the definitive version of Hades 2 will probably arrive at the beginning of 2025, it remains to be seen whether there is a possibility that the console versions could arrive before this period or not.
