Haddad has a meeting this Monday in SP with the president of the CVM and participates in 'Roda Viva'

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, meets this Monday, 22nd, with the president of the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), João Pedro Nascimento. The meeting will take place in São Paulo, at the ministry's office, from 10 am to 11 am. According to the ministry, authorities will take stock of last year and discuss the 2024 agenda.

The executive secretary of Finance, Dario Durigan, Haddad's chief of staff, Laio Correia Morais, and the chief of staff of the CVM Presidency, Pedro Armando Castelar Pinheiro, will also participate in the meeting.

From 12pm to 1pm, Haddad has a meeting with the head of the Representation in Brazil of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), Leonardo Barchini. According to the Treasury, Barchini must present the projects developed by OEI and wants to strengthen the partnership with the Brazilian government. At 10pm, the minister gives an interview to the program Life Wheelfrom TV Cultura.

Haddad fulfills his agenda in São Paulo after a week of intense negotiations in Brasília on the Provisional Measure (MP) to reinstate the payroll. The head of the economic team met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG).

On Friday, the 19th, Haddad once again said that the Treasury will insist on the gradual re-encumbrance of the payroll, even after Pacheco stated that the government had committed to revoking the MP, which faces resistance from deputies and senators.

The measure, which also includes the end of tax benefits for the events sector and a limit on tax compensation for companies, is part of the Treasury's effort to increase federal revenue and, with this, try to eliminate the deficit in public accounts this year .

The minister was also involved, in recent days, in a controversy with the evangelical group in Congress, after the Federal Revenue Service suspended the exemption from social security contributions on the so-called “prebend”, remuneration received by pastors for services provided to churches.
