Despite being a game that you can enjoy offline without any problems, the PvP and Co-Op are extremely important elements for the players of Elden Ring. Because of this, there is a notorious hacker who since the days of Dark Souls 3 has been invading users and by doing so, it is also leaving them with an item in their inventory that could cause their accounts to be suspended.
Malcolm Reynolds His reign of terror began Dark Souls 3, invading and killing players with virtually invincible spells. Upon being hit by one of these spells, various illegal items will be added to your inventory, which were only intended for use by the employees of FromSoftware during the development process.
When the invaded player revives after dying, Elden Ring detects that they have these illegal items in their possession and suspends them from playing with other players. Instead, these users will only be able to play online with other hackers.
According Reynoldsthis is done on purpose to encourage FromSoftware to improve your anti-cheat system. In statements to Kotaku, Reynolds he said his intention was to get caught and considers himself a “necessary evil.” In case this hacker invades your game, the best thing you can do is to die intentionally, log out or close the game completely.
Considering the huge amount of players that Elden Ring currently has, it won’t be too hard for Reynolds to find a victim.
Publisher’s note: As “benevolent” as this cause may be, I’m sure there are better ways to communicate with FromSoftware. And it is that the online element in this type of game is quite important for many players, and it is a shame to have to be watching your back for someone like that.
