Received late Saturday evening Hertha BSC the team of Borussia Dortmund. After the home side kept up in the first half, Erling Haaland exploded after the break.
Gates: 1: 0 Cunha (33rd), 1: 1 Haaland (47th), 1: 2 Haaland (49th), 1: 3 Haaland (62nd), 1: 4 Guerreiro (70th), 2: 4 Cunha (Foul penalty / 79th), 2: 5 Haaland (80th)
Youssoufa Moukoko sat on the bench at the beginning, so the debut of the hyped Dortmund talent was postponed. BVB started powerfully and Hertha struggled to hold back. The fans didn’t see this at first because the transmission was extremely limited.
It was Lukebakio who finished the game for the first time after ten minutes, but the Berliner narrowly missed his shot. After that a lot happened in midfield and after 20 minutes some fans were allowed to be back.
Hertha bit their way into the game, especially Guendouzi made an agile impression and drove again and again. Dortmund did not present themselves with enough grip in this phase, but had more possession.
After half an hour, Hertha deservedly took the lead. Lukebakio had placed Schwolow’s tee shot on Cunha and the Brazilian flicked the marble wonderfully into the right corner from 18 meters.
BVB took the deficit as a wake-up call and vigorously tried to provide a quick answer until the break. But Hertha defended very focused and had especially trimmed the Dortmund wings – Reus and Brandt remained pale. With the tight guidance for the Berliners, it went into the cabins, also because Guerreiro pounded the pass to the bullet-ready Haaland with the break whistle instead of shooting himself.
The second round went unchanged and BVB equalized after just one minute of play. Can had combined wonderfully on the right in the Hertha penalty area and found Haaland completely blank in the middle.
Seconds later, Pekarik had the chance to take the lead again at Hertha, when he was unable to use Guendouzi’s strong pass. In direct return, Brandt played well on Haaland, who tied up his double pack.
It was again Pekarik who appeared again promisingly in front of the Dortmund goal shortly afterwards, but he was disturbed at the last second with a header.
However, Hertha missed their aggressiveness from the first half and BVB pushed for the next goal. Berlin helped a lot when Plattenhardt played back catastrophically on Alderete in the 62nd minute, Haaland splashed in between and scored his third goal.
Eight minutes later, Haaland let Guerreiro step forward who, after a good attack by BVB, made it 4-1 after a good attack by BVB.
Around ten minutes before the end, however, Guendouzi flew into the Dortmund penalty area and there were actually penalties for Hertha – very flattering. Cunha didn’t care, he scored his second goal that evening. But 22 seconds after the next kick Haaland was able to easily add his fourth goal after a one-two with substitute Bellingham.
The Norwegian’s cream evening ended in the 84th minute when he left for 16-year-old Moukoko. The substitute young star became the youngest player in Bundesliga history.
After a strong performance in the second half, Dortmund also deservedly won 5: 2, Hertha reduced immensely after a good first round and made a few mistakes on the defensive.
