Another title to add to the bulletin board for Gustavo Sandrucci who, thanks to the victories of both Mugello races, wins the first season of the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Italy.
The rider from Viterbo is crowned champion after race 1, but is never satisfied and also wins race 2 with a photofinish finish. The multi-champion of Progetto E20 by L’Automobile, after winning several single-make trophies, also puts his seal on the first edition of the trophy reserved for the Bavarian propeller cars.
In race 1 at Mugello, fourth victory of the season for the driver from Viterbo who crosses the finish line first after having conquered the position two laps from the end. Behind him Marco Zanasi (Pinetti Motorsport by Autoclub Turbosport) closes in second position, while Jody Vullo (Pinetti Motorsport by Tullo Pezzo) completes the podium after a race in battle with Filippo Maria Zanin (Pro. Motorsport by BMW Milano).
The two drivers, in fact, continued to exchange positions and doors until the end of the race, interrupting the fight only during the two laps driven by the Safety car, which took to the track to allow the recovery of Andrea Modanesi (V-Action by Erre Effe Group ).
In a daring race 1, marked by harsh weather conditions that put a strain on the tires, hardly in temperature, in fifth place Marco Pellegrini (Pinetti Motorsport by Autotorino) is behind Massimo Zanin (Pro. Motorsport by BMW Milano) , Luca Lorenzini (Dinamic & Shade by Reggio Motori).
More detached, to close the top 10 Andrea Provasi (Uboldi Corse by Fimauto), Lorenzo Marcucci (Guidare Pilotare by Autoavanti), forced to pit in the early stages of the race, and Gigi Ferrara (V-Action by Nanni Nember), author of an excursion in the first laps and penalized for 2 minutes due to the use of the Mugello “link”.
In race 2 it is Luigi Ferrara who, starting from the second row, manages to immediately take the lead, followed by Zanasi. The Safety car is forced to enter the track at the end of the first lap after Jody Vullo and Marco Pellegrini end up against the barriers of the Bucine curve.
At the restart Marco Zanasi attacks Ferrara, thus taking the first position. The driver from Maranello tries to keep the lead of the race, but Ferrara is aggressive. The two swap positions several times, so Sandrucci takes advantage of it to gain meters.
An error by Zanasi benefits the driver from Viterbo who begins his pursuit towards the head. A very compact group launches towards the checkered flag, made up of Ferrara, Sandrucci, Zanasi and Zanin. There is no shortage of overtaking and the race remains uncertain until the finish line where Gustavo Sandrucci once again puts the nose of his BMW M2 in front of everyone. On the podium are Luigi Ferrara and Marco Zanasi with Filippo Maria Zanin who closes in fourth position in front of “Babalus”.
