To defeat the Delta strain, it is necessary to maintain a high level of antibodies in the blood. This was announced by the director of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Gamaleya Alexander Gintsburg.
He clarified that with the spread of previous strains, including the “Wuhan”, according to assumptions, it was enough to revaccinate once a year, and possibly one and a half.
“Because he interacted with our body in such a way that the memory cells that are formed after vaccination could help us, but unfortunately, this is not the case with the Delta strain,” the scientist said in an interview with “RIA News“Published on November 12th.
Gunzburg added that in this case it is necessary to keep a high level of antibodies in the blood. This, he said, allows the virus to be “caught” before it enters the cells.
Earlier that day, Doctor of Medical Sciences, virologist Anatoly Altstein said that Russia will be able to get out of the coronavirus pandemic in 2022, provided that most of the country’s population is vaccinated. He drew attention to the fact that the virus, of course, will not go anywhere, and outbreaks will still remain.
On November 11, allergist-immunologist Vladimir Bolibok noticed that it is the repeated vaccination that gives a loading dose of antibodies to protect the body. That being said, it is the safest way to boost the immune system, the doctor added.
On November 9, infectious disease doctor Yevgeny Timakov called Sputnik V the most effective drug for revaccination against coronavirus. According to him, if the vaccination was carried out with another drug, and the revaccination with “Sputnik V”, then there will be no side effects.
Against the background of a worsening epidemiological situation, the Russian authorities are urging residents to get vaccinated in order to protect their health and take care of their loved ones. Citizens are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
