Guilty, Netflix’s new thriller, is one of the streaming platform’s most talked about premieres and has already positioned itself as the second most watched title. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, the film reinvented the original story.
As the tape showed, over the course of a morning at a 911 call center, operator Joe Bayler tries to save the caller from serious danger, but soon discovers that nothing is what it seems and confronts the truth is the only way out.
We soon found out that the former police officer must go to trial for killing a man while on active duty. It is because of this that he feels compelled to rescue Emily and reunite her with her daughter Abby. To the surprise of onlookers, the victim was actually a runaway psychiatric patient.

In the last minutes, we see Emily calling Joe and indicating that he will jump off a bridge to be with his brother Oliver who is seriously injured. Despite Joe telling her about his case, she hangs up on him. Later they indicate to him that she could be rescued and it is revealed to us that Oliver did not die.
Once the main drama is over, more than one fan wonders if the film will have a second part that delves further into the second biggest question: Did Joe go to jail for the death trial in which he is involved? However, the protagonist pleads guilty to manslaughter.
The original film never intended to release a sequel that addresses his trial or his later days. This is why it seems unlikely that the American remake will release a sequel or even a prequel. Furthermore, neither the actor nor the production revealed an intention to expand the fiction.
