guillermo Ruiz Bonilla, the greatest historian of Colombian soccer, author of more than 40 books in which he recorded the growth of this sport in the country, died this Wednesday in Bogotá, at the age of 74.

Born in Tuluá, Ruiz Bonilla was also a prominent manager in several clubs, such as Deportivo Cali, where he worked alongside Álex Gorayeb; in Millonarios, where he was sports manager in the 80s and was the manager of the arrival of players like Juan Gilberto Funes, and later, América de Cali.
He was also linked to the Colombian Football Federation and later became, thanks to his extraordinary memory and his ability to collect data and photographs, the official historian of Colombian football, as an “honorary title.”
He made more than 40 books, in which he recorded the history of the Colombian National Team, the professional championship and almost all the FPC clubs. He was also a teacher at several universities, including Sergio Arboleda.
