Eight years ago María Teresa suffered a fall when getting off the truck that caused a spinal injury, since then uses a cane.
María Teresa recalled that the incident was the negligence of the driver of the public transport unit because it accelerated when the woman had not yet completely got out of the truck. Therefore he is afraid every time he gets on or off the truck.
“There are times when when you get on the truck they start you off and one falls or one falls, but they do need to be more careful with people,” said María Teresa Ramírez, a user of the feeder route.
After eight years of using a cane, María has experienced that public transport in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area is still not inclusive. There are still dozens of units that do not have a ramp for the disabled, access adapted for people with a cane or the blind, and sometimes the sensitivity of users and drivers is also lacking.
“Sometimes when they see us with a cane they don’t stop us or the opposite, like wait a little while and then the other one comes,” shared María Teresa.
Macrobus feeder routes number 5 and 16 are some of the routes whose units do not have universal access.
Users of both routes indicated that they also take a long time to pass and the units are not clean.
