The GT World Challenge spectacle – whose fate remains open with three races to go – returns to Monza, on a circuit that is undergoing renovation but already features some significant new features.
Aside from those related to the functionality of the facility – such as the revision of some underpasses and the creation of a new one – the most impactful innovations for the race, performance and tyres are the reconstruction of the water collection and drainage systems of the track and the total resurfacing of the track.

THE CHALLENGE
The main changes brought about by the works, already tested by Pirelli in the Italian Formula 1 GP, concern:
– The asphalt is smoother and darker in color, as is usual when the new mix is recent
– Consequently, it is expected that track temperatures will be higher than usual in sunny weather, as happened during the F1 weekend, when temperatures reached 54 degrees centigrade.
– Increased grip, which affects the overall performance of cars and tyres and the operating temperatures of the latter
– Rapid evolution of the track during the weekend
“We know the Monza track very well and the challenges of being one of the fastest in the world, which the resurfacing of the asphalt emphasises and makes more severe,” said Matteo Braga, Head of Circuit Activities at Pirelli.
“It will be important for teams and drivers to maximise information during practice and qualifying, in order to optimise tyre management as experience from the recent F1 Grand Prix taught us.”
“But be careful about the weather: rain cannot be ruled out and would change the cards on the table. For the rest, I am sure that as always in Monza we will witness a spectacular and exciting race”.

TIRES IN MONZA
Drivers will have at their disposal in the dry the DHF, developed to meet the specific needs of all GT classes.
Among the main features of the DHF are a wide operating window and a construction that optimizes the balance of the car thanks to a better connection between front and rear.
In case of wet track, drivers can rely on the Cinturato WHA.
