It seems that many players used the Xbox service to enjoy the popular title.
Grand Theft Auto 5 has dominated the sales charts since its launch in 2013. This past week, however, the game of Rockstar games had an abrupt increase of sold units out of the ordinary, a few days after the game was discontinued on Xbox Game Pass.
GTA V increased its sales by 44% in the week of August 14.According to the site GamesIndustry, Video game sales this last week in the UK were dominated by 3 well-known titles: Mario Kart 8, Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto 5. Not surprising, considering that these same three are among the best-selling video games of the last decade.
GTA V, however, was the only one of the three to have an abnormal increase (taking into account previous weeks). The Rockstar Title increased sales by 44% during the week ending August 14. The game is no longer available in Xbox Game Pass on August 8, which would seem like the most plausible reason for a sudden growth in your sales.
Xbox Game Pass is used by millions of players thanks to the accessibility of the service to test, and even finish, a huge catalog of games. GTA V was surely one of the most coveted games on this platform and its departure possibly caused the sudden purchase of quite a few units.
GTA V continues unstoppable in sales, exceeding 150 million games sold, a figure that only Minecraft has managed to exceed. We remind you that you can join Xbox Game Pass paying only one euro for the first month, to access a library with hundreds of games at no additional cost.
