Greuther Fürth has set a dubious record since Sunday evening. The German employer of the three Dutchmen Jetro Willems, Nick Viergever and Justin Hoogma can call itself the worst Bundesliga club ever after the late home defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt (1-2).
The newly promoted Greuther Fürth went down for the tenth time and is desolate at the bottom of Germany with only 1 point from 11 games. No club has ever had a worse start in the Bundesliga. Fürth shared the negative record until last weekend with FC Saarbrücken, which started with 1 out of 10 in 1963-1964. However, that club takes a point on the 11th match day against Preussen Münster (1-1). That didn’t help much, because Saarbrücken was still last and relegated.
Greuther Fürth had also earned a point against Eintracht Frankfurt. That also seemed to happen when Cédric Itten helped the home club to equalize in injury time. But after an even later goal by Rafael Borré, the Frankfurt striker who kept Sam Lammers on the bench, the final score was again empty-handed. Jetro Willems, who started in the starting line-up, had already been taken off the field by then. Viergever and Hoogma were not part of the match selection.
