The position of the chairman of the parliamentary group will open as the current chairman of the group Emma Kari was elected on Monday Minister of the Environment and Climate until the party chairman Maria Ohisalo return from parental leave to this place. In the same context, the current Minister of Environment and Climate Krista Mikkonen becomes Minister of the Interior.
Long replaced Karia during this parental leave. Kari returned to work in February this year.

At Monday’s meeting, Harjanne was also a candidate for the position of Minister of the Environment and Climate, but was not elected. Prior to the meeting, he was also scheduled for the vacant post of Interior Minister. However, Mikkonen was elected Minister of the Interior unanimously. Harjanne withdrew his candidacy before the vote, as did the nominated vice chairman of the party Hanna Holopainen.
