Therefore, the first day of protest of the “No Green Pass”Went smoothly, peacefully, without any incidents feared or hoped for. The first to complain, for the lack of chaos, are precisely those who on opposite sides, in government and outside, they look for the casus belli to gain political and electoral benefit and close the issue by hook or by crook as if the dispute were only health and concerned four excited cats and no more than four million workers and more than eight million non vaccinated, full-fledged Italians who cross their arms not to add fuel to the fire but simply to be able to work and decide for themselves. The peaceful protest of October 15 should be taken as a sign of readiness for dialogue: the only answer to be given to these workers is not that of the “stick”, as so many members of the government and party, especially on the left, say irresponsibly.
We pretend not to know that the real issue is not the “Green pass” with the swab that workers do not (rightly) want to pay, but that of the anti-Covid vaccination. Vaccination that, equally irresponsibly, in the government and not only there, would like it to be mandatory for everyone forgetting or pretending to forget that in Italy “not to be vaccinated” is a constitutionally guaranteed right, much less an offense as he awkwardly feared the secretary of the Democratic Party Letta, who said that the free pad should be refused because it would be like an amnesty for tax evaders. Democratic rules and laws must be enforced but in this case there is no dogma and you will have to explain why we are the only democracy in the world that asks for a health pass, the Green Pass, in order to access the workplace. The protest in the ports has not stopped the country and this is good.
But the protest is there and it is real. In addition to dockers and truckers, it concerns citizens and workers “in flesh and blood” and not provocateurs of black gangs, and it is the iceberg of a more general malaise that hatches in the deep body of the country, including vaccinated citizens. There remains a climate of tension resulting from a practical deleterious mutual demonization that has characterized Italian politics since the end of the First Republic.
The parties, without exception, in the absence of an ideological basis and political proposals “shoot” at the opponent and, as the M5S, on the party system (in fact marked Pd) and on institutions, in an infinite game of goose. With the slogan of “change everything immediately” everything has remained as before and worse than before and now there are those who, by focusing on the pandemic and its social and economic health consequences, want to impose a “new order” illusory “pro planet” everywhere ”Turning the clock of history back decades.
These latest protests in peaceful squares must be grasped as a democratic resource and it is up to the government to understand that the distress of Italians is real and today more than ever we need a less technical-bureaucratic-military management of the whole issue (not only health) and more based on dialogue and reasoning, raising awareness of vaccination but also opening up new possibilities, such as home care and more . The line of shooting straight, however, certain to have the truth in your pocket, risks transforming the Green Pass dispute into “green chaos” by discriminating and dividing the Italians, preventing the country from starting again.
