The package of measures aimed at drastically reducing pollution in Europe is about to be examined by the European Commission. Let’s talk about the famous Green Deal, with which the old continent aims to reach the zero emissions target in 2050. Among the proposals that today the EU Commission will decide whether or not to approve there are several that concern the world of transport and mobility: the diktat will become “the polluter pays”, and will affect not only the automobile sector but also that of ships, planes and so on.
Green transition, Macron talks with the trade unions
At the center of this green revolution are the so-called Ets, Emissions Trading System, a sort of certificates that give the right to pollution: as La Repubblica reminds us on newsstands today, “Each Ets, whose value is fixed by the market, costs about 50 euros at this stage and grants the possibility of emitting one kg of CO2. Commission simulations predict that the price will rise to € 90 by 2030. Almost double. A little less for transport and private homes: it should be between 45 and 80 euros “. For transport, however, it does not end there: the European Union wants speed up the electrification process mobility, and also for this reason it will undertake to install nearly 10 million electric charging stations on the territory of all the Member States.
EU, stop on diesel and petrol sales from 2035
“The draft establishes a path that should lead to reducing emissions for cars by 15% by 2025 and by 37.5 in 2030 (31 for vans). Each manufacturer will receive an objective which will be “softened”Based on the share of low or zero emission cars registered – reads the newspaper – A figure on which the discussion is still intense concerns the reduction of pollution in 2035: it is now set at 65%, which would be equivalent to eliminating petrol and diesel cars by that date. Nuclear will be included among the clean energies but it will not be incentivized. And new rules will be established to define green hydrogen, that is, without any form of pollution ”.
