The Wrestling and Judo Federation received a letter of accreditation from the International Federation stating the “programming” of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship, from October 21 to 23, next, instead of November, during which the last edition was held, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Emirate Abu Dhabi.
Hosting the tournament is a continuation of the successes achieved by the previous versions, and the judo family praised it in the world, which prompted the International Federation, headed by Marius Pfizer, to present the Cup of Organizational Excellence at the end of the 2021 Championship at the Arena in Zayed Sports City, to Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Derei, President of the Wrestling and Judo Federation. In recognition of the renewed success that has been awarded the highest degrees of excellence by the evaluation committee.
Ibn Thaloub said: What encourages the continuation of hosting the international championship, which is held in 5 world capitals, including Abu Dhabi, is the presence of the sports and tourism infrastructure that our wise leadership has taken care of, and which constitutes support for the youth and sports sector, and has made a significant contribution to the practice of sports at all levels. And it represents the ultimate goal that our wise leadership seeks to make our society healthy, which is reflected in its life.
He added, “The coming period will witness the start of work to prepare for the championship, in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the permanent partner in the Federation’s successes, to continue the good reputation that the UAE has gained in this field.”
On the other hand, the Iraqi Federation officially applied to participate in the tournament, to be the first applicant to compete.
