For 24 hours, the servers of Grand Touring 7 they were under maintenance, basically locking everyone out of the game. As you may know, this title requires an internet connection at all times, so activities and repairs like the ones we saw yesterday affect players on a large scale. Fortunately, this issue has been fixed, and series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has issued an apology in this regard.
Through the official site of Grand Touring 7, Yamauchi shared a letter where he not only apologized for the inconvenience server support caused the public, but also revealed the reason for this maintenance. This was what he commented:
“I wanted to explain what happened in this update.
Immediately prior to the release of update 1.07, we discovered an issue where the game would not launch correctly in some cases on PS4 and PS5 product versions.
This was a rare issue that was not observed during testing on development hardware or QA sessions prior to release, but in order to prioritize the security of user save data, we decided to discontinue the release of Update 1.07. and do a 1.08 correctional update.
This is the reason for the delay.
My sincerest apologies for the late report to everyone.”
Unfortunately, it seems that the DRM system, and the always online features, those that have been severely criticized since the game’s launch, will still be present. For now, Yamauchi noted that advance notice will be given when server suspensions take place, so players can plan their game times.

Editor’s note:
Once again, it has been made clear that these types of always online games are a problem. At the moment we saw a one-day suspension, but in the future this could get worse, and eventually the servers will close, permanently blocking Grand Touring 7.
