During a meeting, deputies of the Duma of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO) elected the governor of Yugra. The acting head of the region, Ruslan Kukharuka, became the governor, reports TASS.
In addition to Kukharuk, the head of the parliamentary faction of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Aleksey Savintsev, and the general director of the limited liability company Yugranefterazvedka, the head of the faction A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth, Mikhail Serdyuk, were also running for the post.
Kuharuk was chosen almost unanimously – 33 out of 36 Yugra deputies voted for him.
Earlier, Senator from Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra Eduard Isakov announced his resignation from the Federation Council. He explained this decision by the change in the region’s leadership.
