Google AI, Google’s artificial intelligence is creating quite a few problems and controversies, due to less than accurate results produced by some research. At least this is what some users are reporting. According to the company, however, the fault would essentially be the stupidity of the questions askedwhich would lead to less than precise answers, so to speak.
Liz Reid, VP and Head of Google Search, defended artificial intelligence with a post on official blog of the company, stating precisely that the wrong answers are largely due to users’ questions. He also revealed that some of the answers, which have become memes, are actually fake. “There is nothing comparable to having millions of people using the feature with lots of new searches,” she wrote. “We have also seen new and senseless research apparently aimed at producing erroneous results.”
The answer is within you, but it is wrong
The Verge newspaper, however, underlined how some incorrect answers were given to more than legitimate questions, such as one that asked the quantity of bones in a breast. These are questions that can arise in anyone and that can create major misunderstandings, also because knowledge is not innate and there are no truly stupid questions if they arise from sincere curiosity.
Even advice like “put glue on the pizza” comes from basic and very clear questions. It was also noted that Google AI literally steals answers from several websites that are blocked by the search engine. In short, on the one hand he censors them, on the other he takes their material without permission, proposing it as his own. Google still has a lot to do to train its artificial intelligence, a technology that is still in its infancy.
