The new measure to support people in difficulty will be called Mia. Here is all the info.
The Basic income as we know it will soon go to the attic to be replaced with a new size. This measure will be called My and the draft made up of 12 articles is already on the table of the Ministry of Economy which will have to study its economic feasibility.
The first rumors about the new measure which should come into force by the end of the year speak of a division between families with over 60s, minors or disabled people and those without these categories but employable.
Mia will guarantee a maximum monthly allowance 375 euros for the employable, i.e. people aged 18 to 60 and of 500 Euros for the unemployable, or families with minors, over 60s and disabled people. The latter will be able to see the figure rise further with a rent contribution.
For employable people, i.e. those people who are considered able to work but who are currently in a state of poverty, the measure will have a lower cost and will last for a maximum of one year and the application can be presented after six months of pause and for a possible third application a good 18 months will have to pass.
For the “non-employable”, however, the amount will remain 500 euros, as it is now, and it is possible that an extra contribution will be added if the beneficiary has to pay therentwhich it now predicts up to 280 euros per month.
The squeeze apparently there will also be on Isee limit in order to access the application. If previously with the citizenship income this was set at 9,360 euros, with the new measure the maximum ceiling should be 7,200 euros.
This will greatly cut the audience they will benefit from My. Still too early to understand how and when the application can be sent. As mentioned at the moment, the measure is being studied by the Ministry of the Economy and it is not said that it cannot be resized further to bring it back into the budget.
