Ángel Cabrera was sentenced to two years in prison.

In recent years golf star Ángel Cabrera has been sentenced in his home country of Argentina to two years in prison for beating his ex – girlfriend.

The 51-year-old Cabrera was sentenced on Thursday by a British broadcaster BBC.

Cabrera, who won the U.S. Open in 2007 and the Masters in 2009, was convicted in addition to assault of intimidating and harassing his former partner. The acts had taken place in 2016–2018.

Cabrera denied guilt, and his attorney has stated he will appeal the verdict. Cabrera began enforcing his judgment immediately after the trial.
