After months of rumors, reports and various leaks, it has finally been confirmed that the classic shooter for Nintendo 64 GoldenEye 007 is finally returning in the form of a new remaster. When the beloved game of James Bond first launched in 1997, it quickly captured the hearts of shooter fans. And while it has since been limited to the platform it launched on, some 25 years later, it will finally return for new hardware.
Announced during today’s Nintendo Direct, GoldenEye 007 has been fully unveiled via a new trailer. The game will be released at a later date and will arrive on Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Specifically, the Switch version of the game will be available via Nintendo Switch Online.
As for the appearance of this new version of GoldenEye 007, it is largely reminiscent of the style of the original game, but is now in HD for the first time. Rather than remaking the game from scratch, it appears that the graphics have simply been tweaked so that GoldenEye 007 could remain in its purest form.
25 years after its original release, experience GoldenEye 007 faithfully recreated for Xbox consoles. Includes achievements, 4K resolution and a smoother framerate – even in split-screen local multiplayer! Coming soon to @XboxGamePass. pic.twitter.com/kpBlJKqFR9
