The Civil Police of Goiás (PCGO) will indict four people for fires in Chapada dos Veadeiros. The fires took place in September this year, for more than ten days in the region, and reached a total area of 28 thousand hectares.
The investigations were concluded on Wednesday (3) and refer to the three inquiries opened. According to state police, the procedures will be forwarded to the Judiciary. The names of the defendants were not released.
According to the investigations, one of the outbreaks of the fire occurred with negligence, due to the reckless conduct of two authors in the handling of construction materials. This attitude caused the burning of the Vale Azul Condominium, in the city of Alto Paraíso. One of the witnesses reported that the fire caused him a loss of around R$150,000.
The other two investigations concluded that a felony had been committed, that is, a fire was intentionally carried out. One of them occurred on a side road to the District of São Jorge and the other, more serious, occurred at Fazenda Cascata, responsible for burning 14,183 hectares.
