The video features various members of the team that worked on the effects, animation, and combat for god of war ragnarok. One of the first important points they touch on is the variety of enemies. They listened to fan feedback on the 2018 installment and decided to increase the creatures we face. Supposedly each of the kingdoms will have their exclusive creations.
For the design of these new enemies, the team had a philosophy of doing it like a game of chess. In other words, they wanted the player to see what is going to happen and be able to react accordingly. For this same purpose, Kratos’ moves are much more varied. Plus they will give the player more agency on how they want to deal with matchups.
Not only did Kratos receive changes to his way of fighting, Atreus will also be different in God of War Ragnarok. Since in the story he stopped being a child, this will be reflected in the gameplay. He will be more independent from his father and will even be able to perform his own combos. Of course that does not mean that they will stop interacting.
