Nexus Mods just blocked a God of War Ragnarok modwhich aimed to change Angrboda’s skin colorone of the characters in the game. If you remember, a black actress was chosen to play Angrboda, a fact that generated quite a few protests at the time of the marketing of the PlayStation 5 version, coming from those who saw it as a betrayal of the Nordic setting. So, as soon as the game landed on PC, someone decided it was right to whiten the character to rebalance the situation.
Mod gone
The mod in question is called, or rather was called, because Nexus Mods immediately blocked it, Angrboda Visual Edits (remake) and, regardless of the modder’s motivations, it was really cheesy, as you can see from the image below.
It must be said that of mods that change the appearance of video game characters there really are thousands of them and, even if in this case the objective seems to have been quite clear, it is right to give the benefit of the doubt to the author.
However, we reiterate that the final result was truly mediocre. It was probably packaged at great speed (who knows why), with the final character model which seemed to have come out of a 3D graphics course for dummies, so poor and inexpressive was it. Nothing to do with the one made by Santa Monica, really rich and well characterized, like it or not.
For the rest, we remind you that God of War Ragnarok is available for PC and PlayStation 5. If you are interested in finding out more, you can read the review of the PC version, the most recent of the two.
