Globo broke its record for net revenue in the first quarter of 2022. Between January and March, the company had revenue of R$3.274 billion.
This is a result 13% higher than that achieved in the same period in 2021, and thus Globo had a profit of R$ 367 million with the discounts of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda). The results were released to employees via email, according to the TV News website.

According to the report, the positive results had a direct impact on sales of the reality show “Big Brother Brasil”, which reached R$ 1 billion between quotas and marketing actions. The debut of the novelwetland” and the new commercial agreements tied to it also contributed to the performance.
The group’s advertising revenue also grew by 15%, while its operating costs and expenses were reduced by 19% from 2021 onwards.
Before Ebitda, the profit recorded by Globo is R$ 611 million, the highest recorded in the period since 2017. As a comparison, competitors SBT and Record had a profit in the whole of 2021 a little over R$ 130 million.
The expectation for the rest of 2022 is positive for the group, thanks to the good performance of “Pantanal” in prime time and the negotiations still ongoing for the sale of the quotas to broadcast the Football World Cup in Qatar.
