As reported by ‘The Clinic’, Daffne was born with gastroschisis, a rare condition that occurs in 1 in 10,000 children in Chile, and that causes the intestines to develop outside the patient’s body. Although it is a complex disease, the girl managed to survive, but with a loss of her intestinal tract that became just a few centimeters.
It’s the best day of my life
Angél María Silva, the girl’s mother, says that from the moment of her birth, she knew that something was wrong, since when she gave birth they did not deliver her to her chest, but instead wrapped her up and took her to the intensive care.
The doctors had to react quickly and told Silva, just 19 years old at the time, to make a key decision: subjecting her baby to a risky operation or enjoying with her the little time of life she had left.
She made the difficult option and does not regret it, because regardless of the battle she suffered all these years to keep her daughter in good health, today she feels proud of the work she accomplished as a mother.
After seven years of examinations, operations and diagnoses, the medical staff of the Hospital Los Angeles, in Santiago de Chile, He communicated with great effusiveness that Daffne has been discharged and can enjoy the company of her family and friends at home.
