Vittorio Barabino and Francesco Crovetto were inspired by the city for the choice of ingredients: “We paid homage to the history of the Superba”
Genoa – It is called Ginuensis, the first gin conceived in Genoa and made by Genoese. The distillate, which cripples the Latin name of the Genoese, was created by Vittorio Barabino and his partner Francesco Crovetto. Born in 2018 almost for fun, like everyone else the project suffered from the arrival of the pandemic, but for some months the business has restarted to the point that Ginuensis has managed to break through also in Asia, in an important market like the Japanese one. “It is no coincidence that we have also translated our site into Japanese – says Francesco Crovetto, one of the two creators of Ginuensis – We are also selling in Spain and Holland, the network is expanding”.
Gin Ginuensis is the first gin born in Genoa. The botanicals used to create it are Lime kaffir, cardamom, cumin, licorice, orange, almond, angelica root, coriander and juniper, ingredients that are a tribute to international trade that have characterized the history of Genoa. «We started with homemade tests, then we turned to a distillery that developed our recipe and from there the adventure began» explains Vittorio Barabino.
In the coming weeks the communication campaign will start that will fill the city of promotional posters: «It will be an advertising campaign that will show an authentic, everyday and even a little raw Genoa, far from postcard images. Obviously, that cocktail of irony and causticity that has always accompanied the soul of the Genoese doc could not be missing. The billboard campaign plays by creating parallels between the characteristics of our gin, the moments of consumption in the city and the rough and unfiltered character of the Genoese “adds Vittorio Barabino.
