The man in the mask
Little is known about Hannya or her goals in Tokyo, but her distinctive Noh mask speaks more than one would expect from such an elusive suspect. “We were inspired by the story of the ‘Noh’ masks, used in Japan in traditional performing arts,” says Kimura. “An actor wears [la maschera Noh] when he plays the role of a non-human being, such as a demon or a ghost. When the mask is worn in a dimly lit theater, it can create different expressions depending on your vantage point […]like joy, anger, pain and pleasure. “
“Body language [di Hannya] it shows his desire to achieve something important, and no one can say for sure whether the mask expresses anger or sadness, ”says Kamura. “This is not only true for Hannya, but also for Akito and KK. Goethe’s “Faust” was [anche] an inspiration in representing the way a person gains supernatural powers […] can face the challenges of following beliefs, wants and desires. “
Like her mask, Hannya’s true purpose lies behind her vision, and Akito and KK will have to combine their wits to foil her plans and, against all odds, save Tokyo.
