IllFonic, the developer studio of Friday 13th: The Game And Predator: Hunting Grounds, is developing a new game on Ghostbusters.
The confirmation of the development of the new game sui Ghostbusters, came from the co-founder of IllFonic, Raphael Saadiq, in a recent podcast. Saadiq, when asked how many games this software house had published, replied by saying “How many games have we worked on? Friday 13th, then Predator, and we’re working on Ghostbusters right now, and Arcadegeddon is out now“. The part where the IllFonic co-founder says this is around the minute 1:00:20 of the podcast.
No other details have been released on the matter, but we can speculate. In fact given that Sony owns the IP of Ghostbusters there is the possibility that it is an exclusive PlayStation. For example, also Predator: Hunting Grounds, another game from the software house IllFonic, can only be played on Sony home consoles and on PC.
This won’t be the first game on Ghostbusters, since the first experience in the videogame field dates back to 1984. In 2009 it arrived in our homes Ghostbusters: The Game, supervised by Dan Aykroyd, actor and screenwriter of the two films in the saga. Aykroyd will return as Raymond Santz also in the next upcoming film, Ghostbusters: Legacy.
The actor stated that the 2009 video game story could very well be interpreted as a kind of Ghostbusters III. The title met with some success of critics and audiences. While the most recent game dedicated to the team of paranormal scientists has been received much worse, with a metascore of about 30 out of 100. The title in question arrived in 2016.
As for the cinema, the release of Ghostbusters: Legacy, and even if the brand’s historical fans were disappointed with the trailer, Finn Wolfhard (actor of Stranger Things) stated that it will be faithful to the original. We talk about it in our in-depth analysis.
