Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut has been removed from Steam in countries without PSN, it seems

It seems that Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut it was removed from Steam in the countries not reached by the PSNwhich seems to confirm Sony’s desire to continue with its aggressive approach regarding the requirement of a PSN account for its games.

Despite the backtracking decided on Helldivers 2, following the large protests organized by PC users, it seems that the mandatory PSN account also on PC games is destined to remain for the other titles, even for those characterized by a strong single component player like Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut.

In recent days, in fact, it was confirmed that the PSN would only be used for the multiplayer online elements of the game, but apparently the issue has taken on different connotations in recent days and now it seems that Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut has been completely removed from Steam in countries not reached by PSN, effectively preventing the purchase where it is not possible to create an account for Sony’s online platform.

Sony seems to want to necessarily require the PSN account

Beyond the imposition of another account, which as we know is never welcomed by players, the problem with Sony’s request lies precisely in the fact that the platform PSN is not available worldwideand there are over 170 countries where this is not reachable and where it is therefore not possible to create an account of this type.

This is one of the reasons that led to the protest against the mandatory account linking for Helldivers 2, which was then accepted by Sony with the elimination of the requirement, but it seems that this is destined to remain an isolated case, given that with Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut seems to be showing that it wants to continue with the imposition.

The drastic solution found by Sony is therefore the removal of the game from sale in countries where the PSN is not available, even if there are still no official communications on the matter and the information comes from SteamDB, which is still considered a rather reliable source for everything that concerns the Valve store. It is likely that this will be discussed in the next few days, even in a rather animated manner, with Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut expected to arrive on May 16, 2024 on PC.
