The British, former lover of magnate Jeffrey Epstein and accused of collaborating with Epstein in cases of sex trafficking of minors, was found guilty of five of six crimes for which she was tried. Maxwell could face the rest of his life in prison.
This Wednesday, December 29, a New York jury found Ghislaine Maxwell, the ex-lover of billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, guilty of five out of six charges related to sex trafficking with minors.
The jury found Maxwell guilty of the most serious charges, including “transportation of a minor for the purpose of sex trafficking”, “conspiracy to sex trafficking of minors” and “incitement” to traveling for sexual activities.
The British woman faces the possibility of spending the rest of her life in prison, as she could be sentenced to up to 70 years in prison. Only the crime of sex trafficking of a minor would take him to spend 40 years behind bars.
At the trial, four women – three of them anonymously – claimed to have been abused by Epstein during their adolescence and to have been contacted and tricked by Maxwell into moving to the magnate’s mansions for that purpose.
Maxwell’s defense had attempted to prove that his client had been the victim of a vindictive prosecution designed to bring justice to the women who were abused by Epstein.
The American businessman committed suicide in 2019 while awaiting the verdict of the charges of sexual abuse of women who weighed on him.
