All flights that were supposed to take off and land at the Berlin-Brandenburg airport on Tuesday have been canceled due to a warning strike called by the ver.di union to demand better wages for ground assistance workers, the airport company and the air safety.

After three rounds of negotiations, there are still no results.
The airport indicated that “initially some 300 takeoffs and landings with almost 35,000 passengers were planned” and recommended that affected passengers contact their airline to obtain information about the possibility of changing the reservation and alternative travel options.
The United Services Union (ver.di) reported for its part that the strike will last throughout the dayfrom the beginning of the morning shift until late in the afternoon.
The affected workers were summoned to meet this Tuesday morning in the square in front of the terminal building, where between 10:00 and 11:30 in the morning there will be a rally that is expected to be attended by up to 1,500 strikers. .

The union demands 500 euros more per month for workers of land services for a period of twelve months, while the employer offers gradual wage increases over 36 months and the introduction of experience levels.

For the employees of the airport company, the union also demands 500 euros more per month for a period of twelve months.
In the second round of negotiations, the employer proposed a 3% increase in the salary table as of June 1, 2023 and another 2% as of May 1, 2024, valid until the end of 2024, as well as a compensation bonus for inflation of 2,000 euros.
