FT: Germany has decided to carry out the most radical military reform since the Cold War
Germany has unveiled its most radical military reforms since the Cold War. About it writes Financial Times (FT).
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius signed an order to reorganize the Bundeswehr “from top to bottom.” He hopes to improve the preparedness of the German armed forces for military operations and emergencies, war, and also change the attitude of Berlin towards its army.
On March 10, Pistorius announced a hole in the Bundeswehr budget for 2025 of up to six billion euros. Prior to this, the head of the German Ministry of Defense said that Berlin intends to compensate for “years of neglect” in the military sphere, so Germany’s spending on the country’s armed forces could increase significantly and reach a level of 3.5 percent of GDP.
