The International Modern Pentathlon Federation (UIPM) announced this Saturday that excluded German team coach Kim Raisner from the Olympics for hitting a horse on Friday during the women’s event.
The incident took place when Annika Schleu, who at the time was leading the competition and well placed to win a medal, she was not able to control Saint Boy, the horse that accompanied her in the riding test.
Through tears, the German athlete had great problems galloping a horse that gave her several blows.
Saint Boy refused to jump the obstacles. The German finally did not finish her round and was 31st.
In a statement, the UIPM explained that it had expelled Kim Raisner “until the end of the Tokyo Olympics.”
The federation made this decision after having studied “a video showing Raisner punching the Saint Boy horse, ridden by Annika Schleu “.
The riding test was held on Friday. There were several falls and numerous riders had difficulties similar to those of Schleu.
In pentathlon, participants receive the horse they are going to ride during the show jumping event by lottery. They can only train with the animal 20 minutes before the test.
