Scholz, in response to the call of the Germans to lift sanctions against the Russian Federation, declared support for Kyiv as much as necessary
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz responded to the Germans’ call to end sanctions against Russia. He said on the air of the ZDF TV channel that the restrictions would last as long as necessary to support Kyiv, writes RIA News.
Thus, he answered the TV presenter’s question that almost half of the citizens of Germany (47 percent) are in favor of the early removal of restrictions and the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, possibly due to territorial concessions in the south and east by the Ukrainian authorities. The politician also reacted to the statement that the Germans are worried about rising prices.
“We will maintain solidarity for as long as necessary so that Ukraine can defend itself. I believe that it is possible to act only with the support of citizens, so I believe that this can continue for a very long time, ”Scholz emphasized.
Earlier, the German chancellor said that the Germans need to tune in to the continued difficulties in the German economy associated with inflation, high electricity prices, shortages of goods due to disruptions in supply chains.
