Genoa – Hidden symbols, suggestions and a pinch of mystery: among the flowers, the lake and the vegetation of Durazzo Pallavicini villa in Pegli there is a real esoteric path created in the nineteenth century by the Marquis, a leading exponent of Freemasonry.
In the early twentieth century there were visitors who even came by transatlantic from America to visit it and even today the requests, even from outside Genoa, are numerous: often Masons or onlookers ask to visit the park exclusively, other times they join the guided tours that are organized twice a month (one during the day, the other with the complicity of the darkness of the night).
Those who simply walk around the villa to discover the camellias or to treat themselves to a break in the cool of the greenery often walk among the symbols without even noticing them. Instead, every single passage is studied, from the beginning of the path along the Gothic avenue that recalls the Dante’s dark forest until the end of the visit in the caves and then in the lake that represents Paradise. A real script where nothing has been placed at random, even the choice of each plant has a precise meaning to accompany man to rise spiritually. An example is enough to understand: at the top of the tower Captain’s castle, the most important monument in the park, there is an auction that most people mistake for a simple lightning rod: “Instead this is a sacred building from an esoteric point of view, perfectly oriented on the north-south axis – explains the director of the park Silvana Ghigino – and is crossed by the axis of the world, which in turn crosses water, matter, the anemic state and the spiritual state to go away to infinity. The rod serves precisely to shoot this energy towards infinity ».
There are so many curiosities like these: to discover them all you can take part in the daytime guided tour on July 4th at 10am or the night tour on July 24th at 9pm.
