Genoa – A stamp dedicated to Emanuele Luzzati, a famous Genoese artist and set designer, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth.
The presentation of the tax by Poste Italiane to the art and creativity of the master took place at Casa Luzzati in Palazzo Ducale where the first collection of Luzzati’s works is set up, destined to constitute an important museum under study and construction in Genoa.
The stamp, issued by the Ministry of Economic Development in collaboration with Poste Italiane and printed by the Polygraphic Institute and State Mint, represents the face in profile of the Master superimposed on a detail of the original sketch of Leonard Bernstein’s show Candide, created for the Saint Louis Opera in 1994 and exhibited in Genoa.
“A great recognition to honor our illustrious fellow citizen on the centenary of his birth – explained Barbara Grosso, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Genoa – The celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Lele Luzzati were an opportunity to remember the Maestro as he deserves, but also for restart with energy, color and magic that spring from his works “.
An integral part of the initiative is the exhibition “Genoa magical city”, with 12 tables designed by the artist on the main sites of the city, set up at the Philately Space of the Central Post Office in Genoa, from 26 October to 16 November and can be visited during office opening hours (8.20 – 15.30 – Sunday closed).
Frame of the initiative is the exhibition “Incantati curtains. Act I ”, path interdisciplinary of stage costumes, sketches and installations by Emanuele Luzzati created by the Municipality of Genoa and the Lele Luzzati Foundation in collaboration with the Cerratelli Foundation of Pisa and with the Palazzo Ducale Foundation for Culture.
The exhibition itinerary, renewed and integrated in some of its parts, winds through the installation of artifacts and theatrical costumes designed by Emanuele Luzzati relating to historical performances of numerous Italian and foreign theaters with related preparatory sketches, sketches and maquettes. An exhibition which does not want to be an exhaustive path of his work but a solicitation to the rediscovery and reflection on the inventive and imaginative processes of Luzzati.
The excellent response from the public, with about 7 thousand visitors in the first 4 months of opening, it allowed the extension of the exhibition until 10 January 2022 which continues with the opening on Thursday and Friday from 15.00 to 19.00 and on Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 19.00.
