Exclusive Affaritaliani.it, Vito Crimi responds to rumors involving him in the Gedi investigation
Vito Crimi, senator of the M5s, until a few months ago regent of the party founded by Beppe Grillo and at the time undersecretary for publishing of the Conte I government, replies on affaritaliani.it to the rumors released this morning on the Everyday occurrence involving him in the Gedi investigation (we have reported them here).
“When I was undersecretary with responsibility for publishing, I met anyone who had asked to meet me, in the sunlight, in my office, after registering at the entrance, also representatives of editorial groups, given the role I held. If I had met the top management of the Gedi group, so there would be nothing out of the ordinary. But it never happened nor have I had meetings or contacts with any of the names at the center of the investigation that I read about in the press.
However, it seems surreal to me to even imagine that the top management of Gedi could look for a bank with me, which on the subject of the Inpgi, early retirement and financing for newspapers, I made some battles of truth, much to have reported the abuse on more than one occasion that was made of these tools by the big newspapers, which defended themselves by claiming not to access direct public funding, but in reality all indirect forms of financing were silent they have always enjoyed with the complacency of all politics.
And the Gedi group was at the forefront, with all its tools, to attack my work, now all the more reason we understand why this persistence against my person.
I am delighted that the judiciary sheds full light, and I am at full disposal for any clarification. It is interesting to observe that once I am portrayed as an enemy of the freedom of the press and once again as the one who supports the interests of some large publishing group. The truth is that with great attention I worked for a sector in difficulty trying to give a transparency that I am happy is starting to exist, even if it took the judiciary to do so. We had also started the States General for the sector reform, to which with the change of government I have unfortunately no longer been able to follow up.
The truth is, I was uncomfortable in that role for the interests of some publishing groups, and for this reason complacent politics went out of its way to remove the 5 Star Movement from that role. I have operated always with righteousness and loyalty to my institutional mandate “.
