A new official announcement regarding the world of videogame acquisitions arrived during the night: Embracer Group has sold Gearbox Entertainment to Take-Two for a whopping $460 million. The announcement comes via a statement published by Embracer on its official website.
As reported in the press release, however, some franchises will remain in the hands of Embracer, which will rename Gearbox San Franciscostudio responsible for the Remnant and Hyper Light series, with the imminent release of Hyper Light Breaker.
The transition took place, as Embracer reports, in order to reduce the huge debt which led the investment group to close and sell a large number of development studios.
In fact, the announcement was made just a few weeks ago sale by Saber Interactive by Embracer and the closure of Volition Games.
It is not clear whether Embracer will be forced to make new closures or sales, but the fact is that, with the sale of Gearbox, the group has lost what was probably its most competitive studio on the market.
The future developments of Gearbox and its projects seem to be brighter than ever: just a few minutes after the official announcement of the studio's sale, one of its major representatives revealed to the world the team's next highly anticipated project, for which we have prepared a dedicated article.
