GDP Italy, in the third quarter of 2021, Istat estimates that the gross domestic product, expressed in concatenated values with reference year 2015, corrected for calendar effects and seasonally adjusted, increased by 2.6% compared to the previous quarter and by 3.8% in trend terms. This was communicated by the Institute of Statistics, specifying how the three months in question had three more working days than the previous quarter and the same number of working days compared to the third quarter of 2020. The change acquired for 2021 is equal to + 6.1%.
According to Istat, the cyclical variation is the synthesis of a decrease in added value in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector and an increase in both industry and services. On the demand side, there is a positive contribution from both the domestic component (gross of inventories) and the net foreign component.
“After a strong recovery in the second quarter of 2021, in the third quarter of the year the Italian economy still recorded very sustained growth. The result benefited, for the second consecutive quarter, from a strong recovery in the market services sector, the most penalized by the crisis, and from an industry growth “writes Istat commenting on the gross domestic product data relating to the period July-August-September.
“The trend increase in GDP – explains the Institute of Statistics – is also marked in the third quarter of the year and follows the exceptionally large recovery in the second quarter, resulting from the comparison with the low point of the second quarter of 2020. As usual, the preliminary estimate is provisional in nature, as it is based on indicators that are partly incomplete and subject to revision in subsequent quarters, and mainly on an assessment of the supply components of GDP “, Istat writes again.
