“All our hearts are filled with shock and sadness today at the loss of Sir David Amess.” This was stated by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, paying tribute to the deputy who was stabbed to death during a meeting with his constituents in a church in Essex.
The prime minister called the deputy one of the “kindest” people in politics, highlighting the exceptional number of laws passed to help the most vulnerable. “David was a man who passionately believed in this country and its future,” Johnson added, quoted by local media.
“Today we have lost an excellent public official, a very beloved friend and colleague”, continued the prime minister, who, when asked what his reaction to the news was, concluded: “I think everyone was deeply shocked and saddened” .
