Gazprom, new cut in gas supplies
The Russian energy giant Gazprom has announced that it will shut down another turbine of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline for maintenance, resulting in a reduction in gas flows. Gazprom said that due to the arrest of the turbinethe daily production capacity of the Russian Portovaya compressor station will be reduced to 33 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas per day as of 04:00 GMT on July 27, compared to its full capacity of over 160 mcm per day.
The price of gas futures in Amsterdam, the European benchmark for the cost of methane, accelerates after Gazprom warned about the risk that the turbine coming from Canada due to sanctions could be blocked forcing the Russian giant to reduce flows from Nord Stream from 40 to 20%. Futures on the Dutch market rose 5.1% to 168 euros per megawatt hour, after hitting a high of 170.6 euros (+ 6.7%)
