The first reason is that Gazprom switched to buying capacities a month in advance and no longer booked for a quarter, the second is that Gazprom expects the commissioning of Nord Stream 2 (SP-2), and after that it will be clear what additional volumes will be needed in the next quarters of 2022.
On October 28, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Lyudmila Buimister, said that a catastrophic situation is currently observed in the energy sector in Ukraine. On October 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Europe could finally lose the gas supply route through Ukraine, since the local gas pipeline could burst if transit increases. According to him, the deterioration of the Ukrainian gas transportation system at the moment is 80–85%. So, in order to pump gas stably, it needs to be brought back to normal, the head of state said.
