The construction of Nord Stream 2 has been completed, the gas pipeline is ready for launch, Gazprom said. It is reported by TASS…
“The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has been completed and is ready to launch,” said Alexei Finikov, Deputy Head of Gazprom Department, during a closed conference call with investors.
Earlier on November 8, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov urged to be patient before launching the gas pipeline and said that there has been no progress in approving the gas pipeline by European states so far. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that the pipeline will ensure energy security in Europe.
Earlier in November, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder called on to launch Nord Stream 2 as soon as possible. In his opinion, the project would become the basis for stable gas supplies to Germany. He added that the Federal Republic of Germany cannot, without taking any action, observe how the cost of gas rises before the cold winter.
Bundestag MP from the Alternative for Germany party Steffen Kotrets also expressed concern that the intervention of the European Union (EU) would delay the process of approving the pipeline. He hopes that the launch of the project will lower energy prices amid the energy crisis in Europe. The full completion of the pipeline was announced by the company on 10 September.
