The brewery from Rio Grande do Sul, Além Bier, was elected the best in Brazil in the Brazilian Beer Contest that took place in the Santa Catarina city of Blumenau last Tuesday (8). She won four gold, three silver and three bronze medals from the judges.
The best beer at the festival was Grodziskie, from Cervejaria Blumenau. The style is typical of Poland, has a smoky flavor and low alcohol content. The second place also went to a brewery from Santa Catarina, Unika, from the city of Rancho Queimado. She presented a Catarina Sour style beer with cashew and pitanga. Cervejaria Bragantina, from Bragança Paulista (SP), completed the podium with an India Pale Ale.

The competition had 3,635 samples submitted by 537 breweries from 21 states in the country, the highest number in ten editions. The labels were evaluated by 106 experts from 21 countries.
