Yesterday, the Red Bull councilor, Helmut Marko, made it clear that he had every intention of confirming the two pairs of drivers of the current season for 2022. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in Red Bull, with Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda in Alpha Tauri therefore seem to be the decisions of Dietrich Mateschitz’s men for next year. No surprises on the horizon for Pierre Gasly therefore, that after the victory at Monza 2020, he managed to get a podium in Baku 2021, showing himself to be decidedly improved after the problematic start of the 2019 season in Red Bull. The Frenchman will most likely remain in Faenza, and in the usual Thursday interviews, he behaved like a perfect man-company.
Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri): “For my part, everything is clear. My future is in the hands of Red Bull and Max already has a contract with the team for next season. As for Sergio Perez, we will see what happens. I am under contract with Red Bull for some more time and I am confident that the answers will come during or after the summer break. I think the intention is to have a leader in Alpha Tauri, to push the team and make it grow. As a driver, I want to stay in the best car, to fight for the best positions. But in my case it’s about focusing on every single weekend and showing my potential and it’s up to Red Bull to decide whether to take me a step further or reconfirm the current couple. I expect some news in the coming weeks ”.
