Fuel prices at filling stations connected to the Yandex.Fuel service may rise, Izvestia was told in the Russian and Independent Fuel Unions, as well as in the regional branch of Opora Rossii. The information was confirmed by the owners of the network companies.
In a letter signed by the head of Yandex.Fueling Roman Prudnikov dated November 1 to one of the network companies (Izvestia has it) it is said that the fee for using the service will rise by 1.2% from December 1, 2021. Now the cost of platform services is 1.99% plus VAT on payments made through the application, or 2.39% depending on the contract. The new rates will be 2.99% plus VAT or 3.59%, according to the document.
According to the head of the Russian Fuel Union (RTS) Yevgeny Arkusha, the indicated increase in the commission by an additional 1.2% today is unaffordable for independent gas stations. He stressed that in 2021 the filling business faced such difficulties as a significant increase in wholesale prices and a lack of supply of winter diesel, and in the current conditions of wholesale and retail disparity, it is already forced to work in the red.
“As a result, large companies can continue to work with the application, which are able to compensate for the unprofitableness of their filling networks with other income, and independent gas stations will either have to raise prices or refuse to work with Yandex,” concluded Evgeny Arkusha.
Now, 8 thousand petrol stations out of about 24 thousand in the country are connected to the service, about 4.5 million times a month are refueled through it, Yandex said. The increase in prices was explained by the need to improve the work of the server side and ensure the speed of the application. The FAS said that they are ready to take action in case of violations of the law.
