Gazprom will cut off the supply of the Nord Stream I gas pipeline from 4am tomorrow morning until 4am on September 3 for repairs to the only pumping unit still in service. This was confirmed by the Russian state gas company, quoted by the Russian news agency Tass. The Nord Stream I pipeline operates at 20% of its capacity, as only one of its turbines is operational, Tass reports.
The announcement comes as the Russian gas crisis intensifies, as part of the war in Ukraine. European energy ministers will have an emergency meeting on 9 September to coordinate the response to rising gas prices.
