Garamendi rejects paid permits for those affected by DANA

The president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, has criticized that the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, has announced paid permits for those affected by the floods when she has not discussed it with the economic agents and the affected companies are “ruined.” Díaz announced this Friday that the next Council of Ministers will approve paid work permits for those affected by DANA who cannot work due to care, mobility problems or lack of connectivity, among other causes.

“I don’t understand that there are people who take advantage of this to release measures that are neither agreed nor known. We do not understand that because of politics, social shields are proposed at the expense of companies that are ruined,” Garamendi declared in Bilbao after the silent rally for those affected by the dana called by CEOE and the Basque employers’ associations.

The president of the Spanish employers, who has stressed that “another part of the Government” does consult the measures with employers, has pointed out that these paid permits “could make sense” in the covid pandemic but in this case “there are no companies” having been “devastated” by the floods.

“Here it is about helping all the people as much as possible, so that companies can reopen again, helping the workers, but, please, let it be done together, that we work together and that we do not give headlines, “That people really don’t need them, what people need is help, that they see real solidarity,” he added.

Garamendi has maintained that it is a “very, very delicate moment” due to the “real magnitude of this story”, which requires “unity” and joint work by “everyone”, which is why he has asked “the political class to stop doing politics” with the floods.

What was announced: days of leave for care or mobility problems

This morning the second vice president and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, announced that paid work permits for 100% of the salary will be approved for those affected by DANA who cannot work due to care, mobility problems or lack of connectivity, among others. other causes.

In statements on TVE, Díaz has advanced that these permits will not have a predetermined duration, they will cover “a multitude of causes” and during the time they are requested the worker will receive their full salary and contribute. In the case of deaths, Díaz detailed, five days will be set after the funeral.

Among the causes that will allow these permits to be requested, he noted, will be the need to search for or care for family members, having problems with housing, materials, mobility or connectivity, among others.

Díaz has also stressed that the days on which these permits are held will not have to be recovered and that if any dismissal occurs in these cases it will be considered null. “They are not going to have to recover those days, they simply have to have a cause (…); The causes are multiple and their salary and contributions will be maintained in their entirety,” he explained.

The Government plans to approve these measures in a new aid package that will go to the Council of Ministers next week, which will be held on Monday.
